Piano Star helps you learn piano. This page explains, in plain words, what information we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. Piano Star is currently in beta.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only in a scrambled, one-way form we can’t read). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google.
  • Your learning: lessons and songs you’ve finished, stars, XP, practice time and your settings, so your progress follows you between devices.
  • My Music: the notes, tempo and title of pieces you upload. We keep the converted notes, not your original file.
  • Payments: Premium payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep your plan, its status and the dates it renews or ends.
  • Feedback: messages you send us, with the page you were on and your browser type.
  • Usage stats: which pages are visited and which lessons and songs are finished, plus error reports so we can fix problems. Visitors are counted with an anonymous id that changes every day and can’t be turned back into your IP address. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t count visitors who turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

Cookies and storage on your device

We use one cookie to keep you signed in. Your progress and settings are also saved in your browser so Piano Star works without an account. There are no advertising cookies.

How we use it

  • To run Piano Star: save your progress, unlock Premium and send account emails (like password resets).
  • To improve it: understand which features help people learn, and fix bugs.
  • To keep it safe: limit repeated sign-in attempts and stop abuse.

We don’t sell your information and we don’t show ads.

Who helps us run Piano Star

  • Netlify hosts the website and its database.
  • Stripe processes Premium payments.
  • Resend sends account emails.
  • Google, only if you choose “Continue with Google”.

They only receive what they need to do their part.

How long we keep it

Your account information, progress and uploads are kept until you delete your account. Usage stats are deleted after about 13 months. Feedback you sent stays with us but is no longer linked to you once you delete your account. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.

Your choices

  • Use Piano Star without an account. Your progress then stays on your device.
  • Delete your account anytime from your Profile. This removes your account, progress and uploaded music, and cancels Premium.
  • Ask us what we hold about you, or to correct it, using the feedback button.

Children

Accounts are for people 13 and older. Younger learners can use Piano Star without an account, or with a parent’s account and permission. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, let us know and we’ll delete it.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top, and tell signed-in users about important changes. Questions? Use the Send feedback button at the bottom of any page or in the app menu.
